JUSTIN O'BRIEN

Justin O’Brien is a musician and freelance writer most associated with Living Blues magazine of the University of Mississippi, to which he has contributed since 1977. He has authored the program for the Chicago Blues Festival since 2013.

 

Additionally, he has written on blues and other subjects for various other publications, has penned more than forty liner notes for blues, jazz, and folk recordings, and was a contributor to the Encyclopedia of the Blues (Routledge Press, 2005).

 

From 1995 to 2006 he was the host for twenty-six productions of the Chicago Public Library’s “Speakin’ of the Blues” program, broadcast on MUTV. Garret Room Books has recently published his personal account of the 1968 Democratic Convention, entitled Chicago Yippie! '68.
